When 16k People Don't Read Your Tweets...

I've taken 2 weeks off work to relax from pretending to be busy. (It's hard work pretending to be busy.) In my time off I've been tweeting a lot more and, in my opinion, funnier/better stuff. Others would beg to differ and that's fine.

I've been tweeting more questions lately and getting zero responses. So my almost 2,000 followers don't read my tweets? That's fine. But this is happening across multiple and even third party accounts! Twitter was supposed to be great for asking people's opinions - e.g. what should I eat for dinner (spaghetti bolognese) OR does my butt look big in these jeans (yes, but it's cute).

I posted a question to @retweet_central which has about 14k followers (a useful service). Not one of them replied. How is that supposed to make you feel when 16k people don't read or reply to your tweets? I might as well tweet to a brick wall.

Does it all really get lost in all that Twitter SPAM?

If twitter becomes a site where there are one way tweets all the time, it is going to lose popularity very very quickly. Fortunately, there are small groups of people who use it as an internet chat vehicle and in this way it was awesome to meet many FANTASTIC fellow twits from Perth. Hi guys! *waves*

In other news, if you'd like to be added to my personal facebook account (under my real name) leave a comment below and I'll add you if you're a friend and I know you! - I don't show up in search.

Cool New Australian Online Bookstore - Fishpond!

I was stumbling around online the other day and discovered a new Australian Online Bookstore called Fishpond.

It's good books, movies, music, games, toys (the usual stuff) but the best part is it guarantees a price cheaper than Amazon.

There was one book I bought about depression to help out (and understand) a friend. It's called Dying For A Cure by Perth author Rebekah Beddoe. I've been recommending it to people but haven't found a reliable source for them to buy it online. Fishpond is great as it contains more of the local books and it's a relatively young site, so I'm sure they would be working extra hard on customer service to differentiate themselves.

Search Fishpond below.

Get Framed - Cheap Prescription Glasses!

On Fridays, 92.9 FM allow people to ring up the station and promote their business for free. Free Plug Friday. I don't normally listen to the radio at that time, but driving back into town from site that day I was pretty impressed by one caller.

It was a Perth guy (obviously) who has a website called Get Framed. He is offering prescription glasses from $30. HELL CHEAP!

All you need is a prescription from your optometrist and you're set. How good is that? I get a free pair from my private health insurance fund each year, but say you wanted another pair on a different set of "cooler" frames for going out - for that price I'd be willing to give it a shot!

I take my hat off to this guy, I think he's providing a really cool service and there is a big market for it too.
